1961年9月版的DIN 1963标准中，牌号GGG-40是由GGG-38和GGG-42两个牌号合并而成的，而此标准代替旧版DIN 1693。牌号GGG-40代替旧标准中的牌号GGG-38和GGG-42。(The GGG-40 grade resulting from the combining of grades GGG-38 and GGG-42 of DIN 1693, Issue of September 1961,is interchangeable with those of the old insue of DIN 1693. The GGG-40 grade is supplied instead of the preriously standardized grades GGG-38 and GGG-42.)
